I am a plant ecologist in the Terrestrial Restoration Ecology Lab at the University of Washington. My current research focuses on successional dynamics in the sagebrush-steppe of the Columbia Basin in central Washington state (visit our website here).

I use a variety of field-based and analytical approaches to answer pressing questions at the interface of plant community ecology and global change ecology. I am especially interested in how agents of change, such as biological invasions and land-use alterations, interact and accelerate the formation of novel communities. While these processes are interesting from a fundamental ecological perspective, they also present a significant challenge for conservation and ecosystem management.
