I am a community ecologist in the Terrestrial Restoration Ecology Lab at the University of Washington. My current research focuses on successional dynamics in the sagebrush-steppe of the Columbia Basin in central Washington state (visit our website here).

I use a variety of field-based and analytical approaches to answer pressing questions at the interface of community ecology and global change ecology. I am especially interested in how global change drivers, particularly biological invasions and land-use change, interact and accelerate the formation of novel ecosystems. While these processes are interesting from a fundamental ecological perspective, they also present a significant challenge for conservation, land management, and ecological restoration.
